Lillards Leverage
As trade talks between the Portland Trailblazers and the Miami Heat begin to heat up, Lillard's agent, Aaron Goodwin made a statement to the public regarding the current situation in which Lillard is facing."I do what I should for my client," Some teams I did call. Other teams have called me. It's a respectful relationship with most teams. Truthfully, he wants to play in Miami. Period."
Even though Lillard and his team have made it clear that he wants to take his talents to Miami, many contending teams are still monitering the situation and seeking a change of heart from Lillard. Teams such as the Celtics, Clippers, and Nets are all in talks for the 7x all-star.
PG13 In The Big Apple?
According to many inside sources, the New York Knicks declined a trade package centered around Clippers star, Paul George. The Knicks didn't want to give the 33 year old superstar an extension to keep him New York for many years to come. A package for George would almost certainly require Knicks forward, RJ Barrett. Barrett, who was drafted with the 3rd pick in 2019 out of Duke , brought the Knicks to the playoffs for the 3rd time in the last decade. Players such as Immanual Quickley and Obi Toppin were considerations in the deal.
Latest on Hopkins
Former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals reciever DeAndre Hopkins is still a free agent coming up on mandatory mini camps. Hopkins has met with both the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots regarding a new contract for the former All-Pro. Of the two teams, The New England Patriots stand out as the favorite. Even though the Patriots just resigned wide reciever, Devante Parker to a 3 year $33 million dollar extension, they are still able to afford Hopkins.
Where is Cook Cookin'?
Free agent running back, Dalvin Cook has been looking for a new home since being released by the Vikings in June. Both the Patriots and the Jets have been linked to Cook in the past couple of weeks. Cook has been on record saying he would love to be able to have the opportunity to play with wide reciever DeAndre Hopkins. This pairing would only be apperent in New England as the Jets have shown no intreset in Hopkins. However the Jets have been "gaining momentum" towards signing Cook. The Jets are an ideal landing spot for Cook following the block buster trade for Aaron Rodgers.
Bounce Back for Wemby
Following a 9 point, 2-13 shooting performance in his first summer league action. Spurs rookie, Victor Wembanyama found himself in a groove during Sunday's 85-80 loss to the Portland Trailblazers. Wemby finished with 27 points on 9-14 shooting while also contributing 12 rebounds. Wembanyama showed his dominance in the inside bringing 3 blocks to the scoresheet. Unfortunately, this is the last we will see of Wembanyama for the summer as the Spurs organization made the smart decision to shut him down.
Kamara Dodges Hefty Charges
While in Las Vegas for the 2022 Pro Bowl, Alvin Kamara, the star running back of the Saints, got into an altercation at a club with three other men. This altercation resulted in the hospitalization of Darnell Greene Jr., a Las Vegas resident. The incident occurred a day before the Pro Bowl, in which Kamara played. Following the game, Kamara was arrested. He has since pleaded no contest, leading to the dismissal of the felony charge. However, Kamara will still be required to participate in community service and cover any remaining medical bills held by Darnell Greene Jr.
