Running Backs Are On The Move
The top free agents running backs, Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot, have both found their landing spots for the upcoming season. Elliot inked a one year deal with the Patriots while Cook signed with AFC East rival, New York Jets. Both backs came off a injury riddled 2022 season and are looking for a opportunity to bounce back. In his lasy year as a Viking, Cook rushed for 1,173 yards while punching in 8 touchdowns. Minnesota is putting their full trust in 4th year running back, Alexander Maddison. In Elliot's last year for the Cowboys, he was able to rush for 876 yards while recording 12 touchdowns on the ground. Similarly to the situation in Minnesota, the Cowboys are relying on young running back Tony Pollard. The Cowboys spit the carries between their running backs and used Elliot for power carries. Pollard served as the more elusive back as he was able to rush for 1,000 yards and punch in 9 touchdowns. For both Elliot and Cook, a change of scenerio should help elevate their career and boost their confidence.
Alex Collins passes at 28
Former Ravens and Seahawks running back, Alex Collins has sadly passed away at the age of 28. Coming out of Arkansas, Collins was the 171st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Collins didn't shine in his rookie year but after being picked up by the Ravens in 2017, he was given an opportunity that he never had in Seattle. In his 2 years in Baltimore, Collins rushed for 1,384 yards while punching in 15 touchdowns. Collins wrapped his career up in Seattle and was a free agent heading into the upcoming season. Very tragic news for the NFL community.
Harden Wants Out?
After declining his player option earlier in the summer, 76ers star guard, James Harden is still asking for a trade. However it was reported earlier in the week that the 76ers organization has stopped all talks regarding a trade centered around Harden. As of today, Harden has mentioned his broken relationship with 76ers Preseident, Daryl Morey. Harden expressed his disinterest in the franchise while visiting China. It will be interesting to see what Harden does for this upcoming season.
